Notes for Contributors

  • Journal of International Affairs solicits unpublished original contributions. Unless specifically stated otherwise, we shall assume that submitted articles are not under consideration for any other publication at the time of submission.
  • Manuscripts should preferably be between 5,000 and 8,000 words (excluding footnotes and references); short articles and book reviews being exceptions.
  • Papers should be preceded by a short, introductory Abstract—maximum 250 words— outlining the main points of the paper. Abstracts should not contain references.
  • Papers should be presented in double-spaced 12pt font (Joana MT) with at least a 1-inch margin on all sides. Please follow the structure of a standard research paper, using the heading styles noted below.
  • Here in BILIA, we follow references in footnotes. Use Footnotes to cite the references in 10pt font (Joana MT).
  • All pages and footnotes should be numbered consecutively.
  • A short bibliographical note indicating the author’s present position, degrees, recent publications and current address should be supplied on a separate page.
  • Use ‘British English’ rather than ‘American English’ spelling, e.g., ‘centre’, ‘favour’, ‘travelled’. Use the ‘is’ spelling instead of the ‘iz’ spelling where there are variant options, e.g. ‘generalise’, ‘organisation’ (Refer to the New Oxford Dictionary of English for other spelling matters).
  • The manuscripts should be submitted in MS Word format and as an email attachment to biliajournal@gmail.com.
  • The subject of the e-mail should be as follows: [Name of the author, Title of the article, Journal of International Affairs].
