Description
Australia has been Bangladesh’s trade, investment, and development partner since independence. The first four decades of partnership can be characterized as having insignificant growth and getting less attention on the part of both countries. However, this relation started to get momentum from the early 2010s. Bilateral trade has almost doubled since then. As Bangladesh’s economy is thriving, trade and investment opportunities are also growing. From geo-political perspective, new Indo-Pacific security architecture necessitates the need for growing involvement with Bangladesh. Bangladesh also sees Australia as a friendly nation that provides immense potential for economic, development and security cooperation. Realization of these prospects will require careful planning and execution of policy decisions that will bring mutually beneficial outcome for both the countries.
